Conflict Between Wizards

Not too long ago, Kat de Claw asked explorers for help in figuring out why some of her shrubs were wilting. She watered them, fed them enough mulch, but they continued to welt away. In a past mission,Wilted Shrubbery, she needed a branch specimen collection from the weary shrubs to be delivered to the Science Tent in Explorers Camp.

The results from the Science Tent showed that the weather conditions were having a negative effect on the vegetation in the Garden Gazebo. Hoping that the Weather Wizards could shed some light on the situation, she sought out to find the latest weather predictions to protect her shrubs.

It appears this is when the most recent conflict between the Wizards erupted. The Fall Wizard, Zephyr Northwind blamed the Spring Wizard, Precipitus Bloomtide for not being able to control the rains. If only they could work together, they could help save Kat’s garden, but they are as stubborn and grumpy as can be. What will happen in this week’s Mission, Consult the Spring Wizard? Make sure to check back this Friday!

To be ready for the continuation of this story, make sure you’ve completed the following Missions:

  • Garden Guru
  • Wilted Shrubbery
  • Consult the Fall Wizard

So go to this blog on Friday For dizzywood help!

Wig Challenge ( Club Penguin)

Hello Penguins!

Talk about hair-raising madness all over the island – There have been so many awesome groups of penguins who are all wacky and wigged out! It was hard to choose. But our favorite group was probably this one:

wig-party

We loved all the wig talk! If you didn’t make it into this shot, we’ll be doing more of these mini-challenges. What do you think?

Congratulations to everyone who wore wigs! Don’t forget that the new Penguin Style will be out on Friday and some amazing costumes will be available to get you ready for the olde knightly adventures that await ye.

Until then…Waddle on!

Special for New Moon Girls!

by Luna

Rated: 4.4 Moons Your Rating:

GIRL

New Moon is excited to announce that Dizzywood, a safe, online gaming site for kids, has designed a special mission for New Moon Girls! You’ll need a parent’s permission to play the free, fun games. Go to the Dizzywood to get started!

Once you’ve gotten your parents permission and joined, log in to start playing. You’ll be asked to choose a Server to enter the Dizzywood world. After that, look for the Missions tab on the right side of your screen. Then scroll down to “New Things to Do.” Click on “Help Friends with a Misunderstanding” and get started!

Making it real

The misunderstanding on the Dizzywood site is just a game—but what if you really do have a problem with a friend, and it’s at least partly your fault? Maybe you forgot your play date with Emily, and made other plans. You might have lost the book Mia lent to you.  Perhaps you accused Megan of something she didn’t do.

Whatever actually happened, the result is the same: you made a mistake, and now your friend is upset. She may even have stopped talking to you.

You feel bad. You’re not sure what to do.

Sometimes it’s easier to put your thoughts down on paper. Writing a letter of apology can make a big difference. It doesn’t have to be long. Here are some tips to make it easier.

Start out with a greeting. “Dear Megan” is a good start.

Say you’re sorry and explain what you’re sorry for. You might say something like, “I’m sorry I lost my temper and said those things.”

Take responsibility. Even if you think Emily should have reminded you of the play date, this isn’t the time to say it. Instead, you could write something like, “I shouldn’t have forgotten our plans.”

Ask for forgiveness. Say it plainly: “I hope you can forgive me.”

Offer to make amends. Be specific about how: “I would like to buy you another copy of the book I lost. Could you go with me on Saturday to pick it out?”

Make your closing short and sweet. “Love, Sarah” or “Yours, Jen” – whatever fits you and your friend.

Dizzywood Dispatch News

Earth Day is April 22, celebrate it with fun activities and friends in Dizzywood!
Dizzywood is throwing an Earth Day party in Gilbert Square East starting on Wednesday, April 22. Come show your support by attending the party dressed up in your best green outfit and help decorate the square with plants! A free item will be given away to all explorers who attend the party, by a new surprise visitor to Dizzywood. You’ll also get the chance to learn more about how you can help the environment with new missions and activities.

Be on the lookout for Emperor Withering though. He has a tendency to spoil the fun, and rumor has it he’s been hatching a plot to pollute our water. Can you believe that? Octavius Rex may need your help to thwart Withering’s evildoing, so make sure to keep checking Dizzywood to do your part in keeping it clear of any plots!

Play Dizzywood now

This Earth Day, gear up with an Earth Day Jacket and other new environmentally friendly clothing items, and head to Wildwood Glen. Play a game of Word Race with the Leaf Sprite and win unique seeds to grow your own plants.
Tip: Growing plants isn’t always a quick task. Plants need healthy mulch to grow. If you gather your friends to help, you’ll see your plant blossom faster, and even give off seeds to anyone that helped!

Don’t miss this year’s Earth Day events starting Wednesday, April 22!

In the meantime, head on over to our blog, The Explorers Journal to see who Brooke Lodgington chooses as her top Spring Time homes. As soon as she’s done touring homes, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite Dizzy Spring Home!

Happy Spring Explorers, and see you in Dizzywood!

Doing Good

Doing Good in Your Community

Helping out in your community is an important activity that’s easy and fun!

There are many ways to get involved in your local community, so that you can make a difference in bettering the world around you and lend a helping hand to those less fortunate and in need of assistance.

Here are some ideas and resources to get you started. Then go ask your friends and family to join you in giving back to your community!

Featured Activity:

Nearly 2 billion people around the world live in poor housing conditions and over 100 million are homeless. Habitat for Humanity is a charitable organization that works to eliminate poverty by providing simple, decent shelter to those in need. Join the Habitat Street Team and learn how you can help:

  • Create greeting cards for homeowners, donors and volunteers.
  • Make a welcome basket for a homeowner family.
  • Coordinate a birthday gift project for a homeowner child.
  • Stock the pantry for a new homeowner family.
  • Help fold and stuff newsletters or mailings.
  • Tutor younger children of Habitat homeowners.

More Activities:

  • Donate toys and books to shelters, churches, libraries or other organizations, such as Toys for Tots.
  • Donate food or help serve at a local soup kitchen or food bank. Find local volunteer opportunities at the Feeding America website.
  • Visit the elderly at a nearby senior care facility. Learn about opportunities to become a visiting volunteer, party helper or holiday visitor with Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly.
  • Read to younger children at your local library. You can volunteer with your local Reading is Fundamental program.
  • Help clean up your neighborhood or community park. Learn about volunteer tree planting events with the Arbor Day Foundation.
  • Volunteer your time at a humane society or animal shelter. Check out SPCA International for opportunities near you.
  • Volunteer your time at a local hospital or facility that supports families with sick children, such as Ronald McDonald House Charities. You can read stories to sick kids, help prepare meals for families, host movie and pizza nights, organize art projects for patients, clean kitchen and play areas, and assist in maintaining gardens and landscaping.
  • Get involved with an emergency response organization, such as Red Cross Youth. You can participate in disaster preparation in your local community; take first aid, water safety and babysitting training classes; help with blood drives; and learn about other cultures by assembling Red Cross school chests.
  • Start your own volunteer club – check out Kids Care Clubs.

Other organizations that you can get involved with:

Dizzywood is committed to instilling good values and promoting positive change around the world. In our own community, Dizzywood employees enjoy tutoring young students at our local middle school and volunteering at the food bank.

Top Spring Inspired Dizzywood Homes

High fives go out to each Dizzywood home owner that spent their time cleaning, redecorating, and entering my fabulous Spring inspired home contest. A record number of explorers entered, and no doubt about it, each of your homes were fabulously spectacular!

No lie, this was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. There was no way I was going to choose just one. So then I told myself, “Brooke, why not choose six?”. So I went back out and took pictures of the top six homes and put them in my journal. This way I can refer to them for inspiration when I begin to decorate my home for Spring (and you can too).

So here they are. Congratulations to the top six chosen homes! Looks like the Spring cleaning bug hit them too!

See ya all next time,

Brooke Lodgington
